Etno Chic (2016)
Zuco 103's Brazilian singer, Lilian Veira, with a Dutch drummer and a German keyboardist, floats her velvety voice above lean sampled backdrops that lace acid jazz with touches of Brazilian drumming. – New York Times, Jon Pareles
It's odd - but effective. – The Guardian, Robin Denslow
It's 2016, and we are back with a stunning new album, Etno Chic. Packed with 12 tracks, this album continues our journey under the proud banner of Brazilectro. Since our first groundbreaking release, Outro Lado (1999), we've been known and loved internationally for our unique sound that blends Brazilian rhythms with electronic grooves.
Our music has traveled the globe, from Tokyo and Moscow to Latin America and back again, making its mark in indie hotspots across Europe. Etno Chic and our new live set pack a powerful punch of old-school electrosamba, funky twists, and a touch of melancholy mood enhancement. To call this a comeback would be an understatement—the Zuco 103 sound has never left the building. Whether it's live acoustics or funky, warped electro sounds, we remain center stage, a force to be reckoned with.
As the Zuco 103 triumvirate, we hold no prisoners, staying true to our Afro-Electro-Samba roots. From Brazil's North-East to the urban centers of a changing world, our hybrid sound is simply irresistible—a neo-tropicalismo tale full of wit, soul, and boundless energy.
